South Asia
Kim and I just returned from a trip to ‘South Asia.’ We were invited to go with our church to help encourage two groups of pastors and their spouses in an area where there is persecution of Christians. Our church has been supporting the two groups of pastors for over sixteen years. In fact, I went thirteen years ago with our church to the very same place. It was great to go there this time with Kim. She has never been to South Asia. Our pastor, associate pastor, and another lay leader went with us. Together, we held two different three-day events to bless and encourage these people of God as they serve the Lord in a difficult place. Check out our pictures on the Photos page.
Sri Lanka!!
From January 28 – February 2, Yaksan and I had the privilege of going to Colombo, Sri Lanka to film interviews for a new Lausanne Global Classroom episode on Freedom and Justice. It was great to see Yaksan again. The conference took place in a hotel near a beach. We spent three days interviewing 16 people on aspects of freedom and justice that are important for global Christians to know today. The Lausanne Freedom and Justice network was holding a conference, so they invited us to come do interviews to produce a Global Classroom.
Interviewing for new Global Classroom episodes at Lausanne 4 in Korea
I was in Korea September 19-30 for the 4th Lausanne Global Congress. During the time there, I was able to interview 74 people to produce five new episodes of the Lausanne Global Classroom. The episodes will be on the topics of Business as Mission, Cities, Children and Families, Ministry Collaboration, and Orality. Each of these play an important role in global evangelization. Pray for speed in the production process. The Congress was an amazing event, with 5,394 people attending from over 200 countries. The theme of the Congress was 'Let the Church Declare and Display Christ Together'.
Turkiye and Pakistan Trip!
In June, I went to Turkiye and Pakistan for Lausanne meetings and to visit Yaksan, the Global Classroom video editor. What an unforgettable experience! Both countries have long histories and have a majority religion other than Christianity. In the picture to the left, I am standing in front of what is called The Blue Mosque in Istanbul. Pakistan
It was so great to see Yaksan. Though we meet online every week, I had not seen him in person since June of 2019. He is an excellent video editor, and we work well together. He and his family need our prayers for health, strength and protection. Pray especially for his mother who has cancer. Check out more pics on the Gallery menu above.
Family Philippines Trip!
Kim and I went in March on a trip to the Philippines with our family. We went there to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Faith Evangelical Church of the Philippines. We served in the Philippines with this group for 20 years. Three of our kids and their families also went on the trip. We had a great time reminiscing together, and seeing all that God has done since we left in 2011. Check out my message to the church during the celebration at this link.
