Summer Teaching
This summer I taught a class on understanding culture at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. It was the first time I have taught this course, and the first time for me to teach asynchronously, or entirely online. There were 43 students in the class and they were based all over the planet! It was truly a multi-cultural experience and a foretaste of Revelation 7:9! The students seemed to benefit from the course. One student wrote: "Thank you for such an amazing class. I am so glad I took this class at the right time. Dr. Burdick is an amazing professor. His feedback was extremely helpful and useful. I will never forget this class. What I learned here will be applicable to anything I do in life and ministry and will forever be a part of all that I do." I praise the Lord for being able to invest in the lives of students and impact their ministry.
Brazil
Last October I flew to Sao Paulo, Brazil to film interviews for a new Lausanne Global Classroom episode on Diaspora. Diaspora is a missions term for people on the move around the world. This episode is a remake of the very first episode of the Global Classroom that was filmed 12 years ago. It definitely needed to be updated. Yaksan wasn't able to get a Brazil visa, so I spent three days interviewing and filming 18 people from around the world who minister to people on the move. A lot has changed in this important mission trend in 11 years! We hope to release the new Global Classroom sometime in early 2027. By the way, I will go back to Brazil in March of 2027 for Lausanne's Younger Leaders Gathering (YLG4). We hope to film interviews for four more Global Classrooms. Pray that Yaksan gets his visa this time!
Sri Lanka!!
From January 28 – February 2, 2025, Yaksan and I had the privilege of going to Colombo, Sri Lanka to film interviews for a new Lausanne Global Classroom episode on Freedom and Justice. It was great to see Yaksan again. The conference took place in a hotel near a beach. We spent three days interviewing 16 people on aspects of freedom and justice that are important for global Christians to know today. The Lausanne Freedom and Justice network was holding a conference, so they invited us to come do interviews to produce a Global Classroom.
Interviewing for new Global Classroom episodes at Lausanne 4 in Korea
I was in Korea September 19-30, 2024 for the 4th Lausanne Global Congress. During the time there, I was able to interview 74 people to produce five new episodes of the Lausanne Global Classroom. The episodes will be on the topics of Business as Mission, Cities, Children and Families, Ministry Collaboration, and Orality. Each of these play an important role in global evangelization. Pray for speed in the production process. The Congress was an amazing event, with 5,394 people attending from over 200 countries. The theme of the Congress was 'Let the Church Declare and Display Christ Together'.
Turkiye and Pakistan Trip!
In June of 2024, I went to Turkiye and Pakistan for Lausanne meetings and to visit Yaksan, the Global Classroom video editor. What an unforgettable experience! Both countries have long histories and have a majority religion other than Christianity. In the picture to the left, I am standing in front of what is called The Blue Mosque in Istanbul. Pakistan
It was so great to see Yaksan. Though we meet online every week, I had not seen him in person since June of 2019. He is an excellent video editor, and we work well together. He and his family need our prayers for health, strength and protection. Pray especially for his mother who has cancer. Check out more pics on the Gallery menu above.
Family Philippines Trip!
Kim and I went in March, 2024 on a trip to the Philippines with our family. We went there to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Faith Evangelical Church of the Philippines. We served in the Philippines with this group for 20 years. Three of our kids and their families also went on the trip. We had a great time reminiscing together, and seeing all that God has done since we left in 2011. Check out my message to the church during the celebration at this link. After graduating from Asbury Theological Seminary in 1990 with a Masters in World Mission and Evangelism, I served as a church planter, pastor, Bible college president, and field leader for One Mission Society in the Philippines for 20 years. Mabuhay! That experience helped me become a Beeson International Scholarship recipient at Asbury, where I earned the Doctor of Ministry degree in 2011.

We returned to the US in 2011 when I graduated with a Doctor of Ministry degree from Asbury Seminary. In 2015 I began working with the Lausanne Movement to produce the Lausanne Global Classroom, an educational initiative to equip global leaders on gospel issues that impact the global church.
